Sunscreen
First things first, remember to wear sunscreen before your photo session. If you do end up turning yourself into a lobster pre-session, smooth out with makeup and wear something that covers your extreme tan lines.

Hair
It can get a little windy on the beach, so bring a barrette or hair tie if you normally wear your hair down.

Hats
Bring a hat to change up your style during your session. If you normally wear a baseball cap, try going without for at least the first part of your session – we want to see those baby blues!

Glasses / Sunglasses
Some glasses reflect anything and everything. If you can’t go without, sometimes tipping your glasses forward a bit will reduce glare. I will try everything I can to minimize or completely get rid of that glare for you during our shoot!
Sunglasses are a fun prop, so bring a pair for everyone!

Sandals / Shoes
Many of my clients like to go barefoot for most of our session. If you have sensitive feet, you might want to slip your shoes on for a few photos if we venture onto lava rock or coral. Keep that in mind when choosing your shoes – your fanciest slippers (aka flip flops) will work perfectly! Leave those shower shoes at home 😉

Attire
This is your chance to dress up a little and show off your style! Fitted clothing is best for the beach, especially if the wind kicks up.
Bright, bold colors look amazing against a blue ocean, and sand, so don’t be shy. If you are planning to coordinate, choose 2-3 colors and experiment mixing prints with solids.
Popular clothing for women and girls includes: Maxi dresses, flowy skirts with fitted tops, fit ‘n flare dresses, dress shorts, belted jumpers, and sometimes, swimsuits!
Popular clothing for men and boys includes: Rolled-up slacks, Aloha button-down shirts, or dress shorts.
Of course, if you are a jeans and t-shirt kind of couple or family, that works too, just wear your best pair of jeans and nicest t-shirt!
For smaller kiddos and babies, bring more than one outfit.
